You Are All I Need!
Pastor Chip Kawalsingh
Psalm 139:23 (NLT) - Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
There are many things we can live without. Just a few years ago there were things that were classed as non-essential items but now, somehow, they have become essential for life. We think we need a mobile phone (just in case of an emergency!), a PC with internet access to stay in touch with the world, and we are sold so many insurance policies just on the off-chance something dreadful happens. These things, and so many others, can make us anxious about our future. But the truth is that we can actually live without most of these things. God is our Father and He knows what we need and what is coming in our tomorrows.
Matthew 6:33 (NLT) - Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Now, it’s important to have certain things set in place in life, but they are not our focus; instead we put our trust in God. The truth is this: you can have all these things in place and it still does not bring a happy, peace-filled life. We are told not to worry and not to let fear of tomorrow ruin today, but to give it all to Him and He will take care of our needs.
Philippians 4:6 (NLT) - Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Even when it comes to your physical well-being, God is your healer and your strength. Going on holiday and enjoying a long break does not always bring back your strength or focus - and if it does, it only lasts for a short while. The world says, ‘You need to go on a holiday to recharge your batteries’, but the fact is you don’t! For many years my wife and I never really went on a holiday - and we didn’t die! God gave us the strength to do what He called us to do! Yes, it’s nice to have a break, but if you can’t, don’t think you won’t be able to cope with life. You can! God has given you everything you need to survive. He is all you need!
Isaiah 40:30-31 (MSG) - For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don't get tired, they walk and don't lag behind.
Let’s Pray
Jesus, you are all I need. Father, help me to see that without you, life would lose its flavour. Holy Spirit, renew my strength, be my source and be my guide. Forgive me for the times in life when I desired other things as essential for living above you. Amen!
