The Battle Is Not Physical
Pastor Chip Kawalsingh
2 Corinthians 10:4 (NLT) - We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
With the revelation in the news today of a church in America wanting to ‘wage war’ against ‘the enemy’, we must remember to use godly wisdom and pick up the right weapons. If the devil was a physical being then we could grab some man-made weapons, hunt him down, and string him up! But no; the devil is a spirit being, and the battle is in the spiritual realm. We don’t wage war naturally, but supernaturally. We fight by kneeling before God in prayer, not by physically attacking people or endangering lives. It’s possible to have the right motives but use the wrong methods, and that makes the action wrong.
Ephesians 6:12-13 (NLT) - For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
We are to stand up for our values, for justice and to defend our faith, but when well-meaning believers act irresponsibly it achieves nothing lasting for His Kingdom, and in the long term can cause more damage than good. One of the greatest weapons available to the believer is forgiveness.
Mark 11:25-26 (NKJV) - “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Forgiveness is not easy! For true forgiveness to take place it must be supernatural. No matter what you’re going through, don’t worry about it, don’t get physically angry, and don’t let your emotions rule your head and cause you to lose your testimony. Instead, pray and ask God to work on your behalf. Having faith when you’re in Church, in public view of other Christians, is good, but it’s even greater to live a life of faith every day. When things go wrong, when your boss upsets you, or when other well-meaning believers do dumb things, pray and ask God for wisdom before you take any action.
Remember, His Kingdom is not an earthly Kingdom!
